•What is a Wetplate?

A Wetplate is a photograph made by exposing an image directly onto a sheet of blackened metal coated with a hand-poured, silver salted collodion photographic emulsion, which is developed in a mixture of everclear, fertilizer and vinegar, then varnished with tree sap and lavender oil. Wetplates are painstaking, handcrafted items. Each one is unique and special, and no two are alike.

•What is a McDigiWetplate?

A McDigiWetplate is also one-of-a-kind Wetplate, but made from a digital file. These Wetplates are made by merging a digital device with a really cool vintage wooden camera. All subsequent vintage processes are the same as a traditional Wetplate.

•Can you create a Wetplate (McDigiWetplate) from an old photograph?

Yes! For sure. Simply upload a high resolution digital scan of your old photograph and we can turn that into a McDigiWetplate.

•How do I order?

It is simple, just decide how many you want and proceed to check out! Email me your file as an attachment, and make sure to include your order number with the email.

•What do I get?

You will recieve your McDigiWetplate delivered to the address provided ready to frame.

•How long will it take?

Because this is a painstaking, handmade process, I make sure that each order is treated with the utmost care and create each order one at a time. Your order will be delivered to you within 3-4 weeks of your purchase date.

•What kind of image works best?

All types of images translate perfectly into a McDigiWetplate image. If there is a problem with the file you send, I will contact you directly.

•How long will it last?

If properly framed, my McDigiWetplates are guarenteed to last 150+ years.

•Will it fade?

As with all photographs, your McDigiWetplate should not be placed directly in the sun. I recommend that you preserve your image by properly framing your in a shadow box frame. This will insure that your image will last for generations.
